SANTIAGO CITY, Philippines – Authorities yesterday warned communities near the Magat Dam against possible floods as the dam reached its critical water level amid continuous rainfall.
The National Irrigation Administration (NIA), which manages the dam’s irrigation facility, said the dam’s water elevation was at 190.36 meters.
The critical level is 190 meters.
Engr. Mariano Dancel, head of the NIA’s Magat River Integrated Irrigation System, said they are closely monitoring the dam’s water level.
For his part, NIA engineer Saturnino Tenedor said the dam has yet to release water from its reservoir along the Ifugao-Isabela border despite having reached its critical level. – With Dino Balabo
