MANILA, Philippines - A former Marikina City councilor was killed after he and his companions were ambushed in Cainta as they were returning back to Marikina this afternoon.
According to the Cainta Police, former councilor Elmer Nepomuceno, his driver, Elmer Lituania and another companion, Jason Villon were ambushed along the Sumulong Highway infront of the Kia car dealership at about 5:30 pm.
Police said the victims were aboard Nepomuceno's silver Hyundai Getz (ZFJ-910) and were driving along Sumulong Highway from a cockpit in Antipolo City when they were ambushed near Cainta's border with Marikina.
According Cainta Police chief, Supt. Carlito Briones, the victims were rushed to the Marikina Valley Hospital after the ambush.
Police said Nepomuceno was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while his driver was injured. Nepomuceno's other unidentified companion was unhurt.
