SC resets DAP oral arguments for 3rd time

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday announced that it is again moving the date of oral arguments on the controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) to a later date.

SC public information head Theodore Te announced that from the original schedule of Novmber 11 at 10 a.m., the oral arguments have been reset to November 19 at 2 p.m.

It was the third time that the high court has moved the oral argument son the controversial fund of Malacanang. It was initially scheduled on October 22.

There are at least nine petitions filed before the high court, questioning the legality of the DAP.

Nevertheless, during the special en banc session of the SC on Oct. 25, 2013, the date of the oral arguments was reset to Nov. 11.

There are now nine petitions filed before the SC questioning the legality of the DAP.

The petitions were filed after Sen. Jinggoy Estrada revealed in a privilege speech that senators who voted for the impeachment of former Chief Justice Renato Corona received additional P50 million funds sourced from the DAP.

Estrada delivered the privilege speech after the government filed plunder charges against him and other lawmakers, including Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile and Sen. Bong Revilla.
