MANILA, Philippines - It turned out to be a lucky day for 75-year-old Domingo Simon who shared the same polling precinct with President Benigno Aquino III during Monday's barangay elections.
Around 11 a.m., Simon happened to be at the Precinct No. 175-A in Central Azucarera de Tarlac Elementary School when Aquino cast his vote in the same room.
Simon said he told Aquino about his kidney ailment and that he has not been receiving his pension. He said the President promised him of medical assistance.
"Ako'y nagpapasalamat. Napakaswerte ko... 'Pagkat umabot kay Noynoy, nagkita kami," Simon said in a television report.
"Dinaing ko 'yung aking problema kaya bukas na bukas, kukunin ako, dadalhin ako sa doktor. Malacañang lahat ang sasagot," Simon added.
The President was accompanied by his sisters Ballsy Aquino-Cruz and Pinky Aquino-Abellada along with their spouses Eldon Cruz and Manuel Antonio Abellada, respectively, who also cast their votes.
Aquino was number 5 among the 287 registered voters at his precinct, according to an article posted on the website of the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
It only took Aquino several minutes to vote and he left immediately the polling area after. -Louis Bacani
