Quedan spotted off Samar
MANILA, Philippines - The low-pressure area (LPA) off Eastern Samar intensified into Tropical Depression Quedan yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the center of Quedan was spotted at 900 kilometers east of Guiuan, packing winds of 45 kilometers per hour. It was forecast to move north northeast at seven kph.
Weather forecasters said Quedan is not expected to make landfall in any part of the country.
But PAGASA weather division chief Robert Sawi said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) would continue to bring rains over southern Luzon, as well as Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao in the next three days.
Sawi said these areas would have mostly cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms, becoming more frequent over the western section of Visayas and Mindoro.
