7 dead in car-bus collision

Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least seven people died after the car they were riding collided with a bus in Puerto Princesa, Palawan yesterday afternoon.

Senior Superintendent Abad Osit, Puerto Princesa City police director, said the seven passengers of the Toyota Innova (SAF-691) died at the scene.

The bus (VIC-156), which provides service for roll- on, roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels, was driving away from Rio Tuba town when it smashed into the gray Innova in Barangay Luzviminda.

Police said the bus driver apparently miscalculated the distance of the approaching Innova, resulting in the collision.

“Medical teams who responded to the scene of the accident said the passengers of the Innova were declared dead on the spot,” Osit said.

Police have yet to identify the fatalities.
