MANILA, Philippines - A foreign ship carrying tons of palm oil ran aground off Busuanga, Palawan yesterday.

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman Commander Armand Balilo said the 752-gross ton M/T Glenn Australia was carrying 1,010.794 tons of palm oil when it was swept about 600 meters toward the shoreline of Barangay Panlaitan.

It was not immediately known whether the ship encountered strong winds or developed engine trouble.

Palawan District commander Commodore Enrico Efren Evangelista said one of the ship’s crewmen, Ronnie Bulante, reported the incident to a PCG detachment at about 7:15 a.m. yesterday.
