Passport of slain OFW in Egypt found

Pia Lee-Brago - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Egyptian police recovered the Philippine passport of the slain female overseas Filipino worker (OFW) whose body was found at a dump in Nasr City, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.

DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said the department is withholding the identity of the victim until her family in the Philippines is informed about her death and completion of the forensic examination.

The DFA said on Wednesday that the victim’s body was found concealed in a large suitcase, which was abandoned in the dump.

The victim’s death was reported to the Philippine embassy last Aug. 17.

“The corpse has been blackened due to decomposition,” the DFA said.

Police authorities are still investigating the cause and circumstances of her death.
