KIDAPAWAN CITY , Philippines – A daughter of fugitive businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles owns a major hotel and a house here, sources from the mayor’s office said yesterday.
The office of Mayor Joseph Evangelista, sources said, has documents to prove that Napoles’ daughter, Jo Christine, owns the Mt. Apo Inn at the corner of Bryant and Bautista Streets.
“We have documents at the city’s licensing office and treasury indicating that the daughter of Mrs. Napoles owns that hotel and a residential house in the same address,†a source, who asked not to be identified, said.
The Mt. Apo Inn has been operating in Kidapawan City for five years now, according to a senior staff at the mayor’s office.
Police and military intelligence officials in Kidapawan City and North Cotabato said they are ready to monitor the surroundings of the hotel if asked by the National Bureau of Investigation, which is now investigating the pork barrel scam allegedly orchestrated by Napoles and some lawmakers.
Meanwhile in Bacolod City, the Bureau of Immigration has been put on alert following reports that Napoles and her brother Reynald Lim might be in the city where she owns a house in a high-end district.
BID-Bacolod alien control officer Mita Chuvy Arguelles said they have received a memorandum from BI officer-in-charge Siegfred Mison, directing all immigration personnel “to exercise utmost vigilance to enjoin any attempt of departure†of Napoles and Lim.
But Arguelles and Bacolod police director, Senior Superintendent Edgardo Ordaniel, said they have yet to confirm the reports.
