Plot to kill De Lima, NBI chief bared

MANILA, Philippines - The lawyer of pork barrel scam witness Benhur Luy yesterday revealed a plot to assassinate Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Nonnatus Rojas, and his client.

Levi Baligod claimed two groups have been recruited to kill the three, with one of the groups led by a former Marine as the hitman and another composed of a five-man team from Basilan.

“Fortunately, someone from both groups informed me. God is merciful,” Baligod said.

According to Baligod, the contract price was P25 million.

Baligod said he received the information some 10 days ago but said he had no plans to hire bodyguards for protection.

“We don’t have enough resources to maintain bodyguards. What we’re going to do now is escape and evasion. We now have to learn survival, escape, and evasion,” he said.
