MANILA, Philippines - The new director of United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) in Manila leads the commercial team within the British embassy to promote and support UK business links with the Philippines.
The British embassy has announced the appointment of Iain Mansfield, who brings wide-ranging policy experience in trade, competition, science and innovation.
The embassy said Mansfield and his team are supporting the increasing number of British firms looking into key sectors in the Philippines, which he describes as the “rising star†in the region.
“To capitalize on this opportunity, the British embassy’s UKTI Team is currently organizing various trade missions, including in agriculture and energy, and other events that will highlight British education and retail brands from the UK,†the embassy said.
Prior to his appointment in the Philippines, Mansfield was assistant director of Competition Policy at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), the equivalent of the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry.
