(UPDATE) 6 left dead as typhoon Labuyo sweeps north Phl

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The death toll from typhoon Labuyo rose to six in the Philippines, while over 30,000 families were displaced by heavy rains and flooding in the northern Philippines, authorities said today.

Utor, the strongest storm to hit the country this year, damaged nearly P70 million ($1.60 million) worth of crops and property, said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

At least three towns in Aurora province, northern Philippines, remain isolated due to landslides, while communication is also down.

NDRRMC Spokesman Rey Balido said they will clear the roads leading to the three towns of Dilasag, Casiguran and Dinalungan.

Balido said NDRRMC executive director and concurrent Office of Civil Defense administrator Eduardo del Rosario had an aerial survey of Aurora and other typhoon-hit areas.

The aerial survey is meant to see the real situation in the area, check on the condition of the people, and determine their needs.

Labuyo has exited the Philippines and is moving towards southern China.
