MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The social welfare department will be deploying 36,000 food packs and relief goods to areas affected by the recent flooding in Mindanao.
Deputy Presidential Spokeswoman Abigail Valte said today that an initial P12.70 million ($293,000) worth of emergency relief resources consisting of standby funds, family food packs, and other food items and other non-food items were allotted by social welfare officials for the Northern Mindanao region.
Valte said an additional 30,000 food packs were sent for the victims of flooding in Maguindanao and Sarangani provinces.
More than 45,000 people were dislocated in Maguindanao due to the incessant rains that resulted in flooding in several areas.
Valte said as there are no casualties reported and that local government units in the affected areas are looking after the welfare of their constituents.
