Cadavero’s mother shows up at NBI
MANILA, Philippines - The mother of Ricky Cadavero, the slain leader of Ozamiz robbery group, went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday to clarify some points in her affidavit regarding her son’s death.
Luzviminda Cadavero, accompanied by a representative of human rights groups, went to the NBI but details of her meeting were not revealed to avoid jeopardizing their operation.
Luzviminda was among the last persons that Ricky wanted to talk to before he was killed.
A source said the NBI is being “extra cautious†with regard to the statements of a police witness, whose affidavits the Philippine National Police (PNP) had used to show that Cadavero died in a rubout and not a shootout as earlier reported.
The police officer issued three affidavits and the NBI is wary that the last affidavit, which belied the shootout angle, is not that strong to pin down those at fault.
Reports have so far identified only the gunmen but not the brains behind Cadavero’s death.
Cadavero, a notorious robbery gang leader, committed 22 crimes ranging from murder to robbery from 2011 to 2013.
