NGO to launch EDSA children’s book

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A non-government organization will launch on Tuesday a children’s book about the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution to instill in the younger generation the importance of the peaceful revolt that toppled the 20-year Marcos dictatorship.

The EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC) said the book “EDSA” recounts the final days of the peaceful people power revolution.

“It is a picture book addressed specifically to children,” the EPPC said.

The launching of “EDSA,” written by Palanca awardee Russel Molina and illustrated by award-winning children’s book illustrator Sergio Bumatay, coincides with the celebration of the National Children’s Book Day.

EPPC commissioner Emily Abrera and Education Undersecretary Dina Ocampo-Cristobal will lead the book launching at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City.

“Through this book, Molina wanted the new generation of Filipino children to find relevance in the spirit of EDSA and participate in this significant part of history,” the EPPC said.
