Seven tropical cyclones have already entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The last cyclone was Tropical Storm "Gorio," which left at least seven people dead. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that an average of 19 to 20 tropical cyclones enter the PAR in a year and an average of 8 to 9 make landfall. The deadliest tropical cyclone that entered the PAR in 2012 was Super Typhoon "Pablo," which left 1,067 people dead, 834 more missing while the deadliest cyclone that struck the country in history is "Thelma," which killed 5,080 people and left 1,264 more missing in November 1991.
