Re-elected Gloria Arroyo takes oath in hospital

MANILA, Philippines - Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo took her oath of office to start her second term as Pampanga representative while on hospital arrest the Veterans Memorial Medical Center Sunday.

Arroyo swore before  notary public lawyer Galileo Angeles in the hospital room at around 11:30 a.m.

The congresswoman was accompanied by husband Mike and son Mikey, former Ang Galing Pinoy party-lst representative, during the ceremony.

Arroyo’s chief of staff Elena Bautista Horn, lawyer Raul Lambino as well as a few constituents from Pampanga were also present to witness her first day in her fresh term in Congress.

Arroyo is detained facing on plunder charges and did not leave the hospital to file her certificate of candidacy or campaign for reelection.

She also did not join her fellow candidates in the oath-taking rites in Lubao, Pampanga last Sunday.
