MANILA, Philippines - Senator-elect Juan Edgardo Angara vowed yesterday to comply with the requirements of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE).
“We respect the findings of the commission and we will provide the information needed,†Angara said in a text message.
Sen. Loren Legarda, meanwhile, disputed the Comelec report, saying she has been compliant with the requirements of the SOCE.
“I am fully compliant. Comelec should revise their statement,†she told The STAR.
Angara and Legarda were among the 27 senatorial candidates fined by the Comelec with a minimum of P1,000 each for filing deficient SOCEs.
The other senators have not responded to media queries at press time.
A minute resolution signed by Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. and the six commissioners said the P1,000 fine will increase until the candidates fully comply with the SOCE requirements.
