Neophyte senator vows to comply with Comelec's SOCE requirements
MANILA, Philippines - Senator-elect Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara vowed on Friday that he will be complying with the "deficiencies" found by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) for the last elections.
"We respect the findings of the Commission and we will provide the information needed," Angara said in a text message.
For her part, Sen. Loren Legarda said she has been compliant with the requirements under SOCE.
"I am fully compliant. Comelec should revise their statement," she said.
Senators Gregorio Honasan and Chiz Escudero have not responded to media queries at press time.
Angara and Legarda are among the 27 senatorial candidates fined by the Comelec with a minimum of P1,000 each for filing deficient SOCE.
A minute resolution signed by Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. and the six commissioners said the P1,000 fine will increase until the candidates complete their SOCE requirements.
