PCG to summon captain, 21 crew of M/V Mt. Carmel

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Thursday that it will summon the captain and crew of the ill-fated M/V Mt. Carmel, which sank off Masbate province last week.

The PCG said that Lauro Mateo, captain of the ill-fated ship, will be the first to be questioned at the board of marine inquiry, which will start as soon as the search and rescue operations for the missing passengers have been completed.

The PCG has officially counted two fatalities from the sinking of the ship. Seven more passengers remain missing.

The agency said that all 21 crewmen of the ship will also be summoned.
