Amanda named sexiest vegan

MANILA, Philippines - Model and television host Amanda Griffin-Jacob is the country’s sexiest vegetarian, results of an online poll conducted by the People for the Ethical Treatment for Animals (PETA) showed.

PETA campaigns manager Rochelle Regodon said singer Geneva Cruz got the second highest number of votes, while actor Raymond Bagatsing came in third.

“We are not able to disclose their number (of votes) but the decision was based on the number of votes received and the celebrity’s commitment to vegetarianism,” said Regodon.

She said the online poll was held for one month.

The other nominees were FHM cover girl Alicia Mayer; models Sandra Seifert, Julia Sniegowski, Isabel Roces, and Raya Mananquil; actresses Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Juliana Palermo, and Yasmien Kurdi; musicians Lougee Basabas, Nityalila Saulo, and Cynthia Alexander; and actor Rocco Nacino.

Jacob has been a vegetarian since 2007. The model is shooting season two of her TV show “Amanda, Living Life.” She also maintains a popular resource website for moms GlamoMamas.com.

“When I was eating meat, I had a lot of digestive issues. Now that I’m vegetarian, I feel wonderful both mentally and physically. Most importantly, I know I’m giving my children the best possible start in life,” said Jacob.

She encourages those who want to become vegetarians: “Do it. Your mind and body will thank you for it.”

PETA Asia vice president Jason Baker said, “There’s no easier way to put passion in your life than to put compassion in your diet. Amanda knows that going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth, and your health. Plus, she’s living proof that being vegetarian keeps you slim and sexy.”
