MANILA, Philippines - Forty-eight police generals, including Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima, took their ceremonial oath before President Aquino at Malacañang yesterday.
Purisima received his fourth star in December last year.
Director Lina Sarmiento, the highest ranking female general in PNP history, and Chief Superintendent Liza Sabong also joined the rites.
Deputy Directors-General Ager Ontog Jr. and Felipe Rojas Jr. were also among the star-rank officers. Twelve directors, including Sarmiento, took their oath, while 33 other chief superintendents were also present in Malacañang yesterday.
The Directors were Cipriano Querol Jr., Sarmiento, Manuel Barcena, Angelito Pacia, Alexander Roldan, Leonardo Espina, George Regis, Wilson Victorio, Gil Hitosis, Alex Paul Monteagudo, Napoleon Estilles and Carmelo Valmoria.
Among the chief superintendents were Alexander Ignacio, Henry Ranola Jr., Arrazad Subong, Generoso Cerbo Jr., Christopher Laxa, Joel Ma. Alvarez, Wendy Rosario, Nestor Fajura, Rogelio Damazo, Noel Constantino, Ismael Lapira, Federico Castro Jr., Mario Lopez Jr., Miguel Antonio Jr., James Bucayu, Manuel Felix, Allen Fortes, Isagani Nerez, Wency Pascual, Sabong, Mario Soriano, Louie Oppus, Lyndel Desquitado, Roberto Soriano, Virgil Bombita, Jose Ernesto Fernandez Jr., Dennis Peña, Josephus Angan, Edwin Ronan, Luis Ricardo Chavez, Pancho Adelberto Hubilla, Rolando Macusi and Wilson Amper.
Last week, 49 officials from the Armed Forces led by Gen. Emmanuel Bautista took their oath before Aquino in simple ceremonies in Malacañang.
They were Admiral Edgar Abogado; Lieutenants General Alan Luga, Rustico Guerrero, Roy Deveraturda, and Cesar Ronnie Ordoyo; Rear Admirals Jaime Bernardino, Jesus Millan, Leopoldo Alano and Philip Cacayan; and Major Generals Leo Cresente Ferrer, Benito Antonio de Leon, Danilo Servando, Gregorio Pio Catapang, Nicanor Vivar, Richard Siga-an, Crisologo Nayve, Romeo Gapuz and John Bonafos; Brigadiers General Felix Castro, Jet Velarmino, Glorioso Miranda, Romeo Labador, William Turalde, Ricardo Visaya, Conrado Parra Jr., Luis Vinoya Jr., Dante Costes, Bobby Calleja; Eliseo Posadas, Orlando de Leon, Galileo Gerard Kintanar Jr., Ademar Tomaro, Quirino Calonzo, Francisco Patrimonio, Marian Aleido, Wilfredo Bonilla, Romeo Gan, Mayoralgo de la Cruz, John Estoesta, Oscar Lactao, Reynaldo Castillo, and Leonardo Guerrero; Commodores George Catameo, Antonio Habulan Jr., Joel de la Cruz, Francisco Sebastian, Ronaldo Joseph Mercado and Nodolfo Tejada.
