MANILA, Philippines - Charges have been filed against recalled Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Shulan Primavera for allegedly sexually abusing a Filipina housemaid in November 2012.
The Blas Ople Policy Center welcomed yesterday the filing of sexual harassment raps against Primavera.
Susan Ople, center head, said they received information that Primavera will soon face formal investigation by the Department of Foreign Affairs on the complaint filed by a Filipina worker in the Philippine embassy in Kuwait.
“We thank the members of the Committee on Decorum and Investigation for its impartial and thorough probe on the sexual harassment complaint filed by Mabel,†Ople said.
According to Ople, Primavera’s victim is determined to pursue her quest for justice.
“This is the best proof that Mabel was acting on her own and is not being used by anyone. She could have easily dropped the case after all its initial publicity had she been merely being used by someone with a grudge against Ambassador Primavera,†she added.
The Filipina housemaid testified before a panel created by the Office of the Secretary and before the Committee on Decorum and Investigation of the DFA.
