Ayala Land vows full cooperation in probe

Mike Frialde and Neil Jerome Morales - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Land Inc. reassured the government yesterday of its cooperation in the investigation into the May 31 explosion at Two Serendra as well as in ensuring the safety of unit owners and tenants of the condominium.

“We appreciate the efforts of the government’s Inter-Agency Task Force in taking a thorough and scientific approach in its investigation of the May 31 incident,” said Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) president and chief executive officer Antonino Aquino.

Aquino said ALI is committed to “ensuring the structural integrity of the affected areas and adjacent buildings as well as in ascertaining the proper operation of facilities, including the LPG distribution system.”

Aquino said inspections may cover individual units, with the permission of the condominium corporation and unit owners.

“A more definitive pronouncement on the cause as well as what triggered the explosion will be the subject of more analysis and consultation with experts,” ALI said.

ALI is a major shareholder of Serendra Inc., developer of Two Serendra at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. Sections A and B of Two Serendra had been cleared to ensure the safety of 78 unit owners.

“At the same time, we continue to focus our efforts on the affected residents and victims of this tragic incident,” Aquino said.

“We have been able to visit and assist the families of the three Abenson workmen who died,” he said.

ALI also said it had provided temporary lodging for the displaced residents.
