MANILA, Philippines - Three Filipinos died and another was seriously injured in a road accident in Queensland, Australia Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed yesterday.
Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said the Filipinos were involved in a traffic mishap at Dalby, Queensland in the afternoon of June 2.
Two of the Filipinos were killed at the scene, one died in the hospital and another was seriously injured. The injured Filipino is still confined in a local hospital.
“The accident is still under investigation,†Hernandez said.
The families of the three Filipino fatalities have already been notified.
“Our embassy in Canberra continues close coordination with the victim’s employer on how to further assist the surviving Filipino and the families of those who passed away in this tragic accident,†Hernandez said.
According to reports, the victims were in a car that collided head-on with a trailer truck at the Warrego Highway in Queensland.
Reports quoting the police said the car was apparently on the wrong side of the road when the accident took place.
The truck driver survived the collision.
