(UPDATE) Comelec proclaims all 12 winning senatorial bets
MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed tonight the remaining three winning senatorial candidates in the 2013 midterm elections.
Cynthia Villar, former representative of the Metro Manila's city of Las Pinas, Joseph Victor Ejercito Estrada, former representative of San Juan city in Metro Manila, and re-election senator Gregorio Honasan completed the top 12 winning senatorial bets.
In the proclamation ceremony, the three were joined by Senators- elect Nancy Binay, Aquilino Pimentel III, and Antonio Trillanes IV, who failed to appear during their respective proclamation nights the previous days.
The last batch of senators-elect was proclaimed after 129 out of 304 certificates of canvass were tallied by the poll body, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers.
Former president and Manila Mayor-elect Joseph Estrada accompanied his son, Joseph Victor, in the proclamation. Vice President Jejomar Binay was also present to support his eldest daughter, Nancy Binay.
The other senators-elect who were earlier proclaimed were Grace Poe, Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis Escudero, Edgardo "Sonny" Angara, and Paolo "Bam" Aquino.
Nine of the winning senatorial candidates are allies of President Benigno S. Aquino III, while the three others belong to opposition United Nationalist Alliance.
