TUCP endorses 12 pro-worker bets

MANILA, Philippines - The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) yesterday endorsed 12 senatorial candidates whom they believe would support pro-workers measures.

TUCP head former senator Ernesto Herrera said the group and its affiliate trade unions could deliver at least two million votes for former senators Juan Miguel Zubiri, Richard Gordon, Ernesto Maceda, Jun Magsaysay, Gringo Honasan, Loren Legarda, Jack Enrile, Grace Poe, Nancy Binay, Bam Aquino, JV Ejercito and Christian Señeres.

Before coming out with the list, the union leaders met and noted the sentiments of their members.

The TUCP will strongly campaign in the grassroots for the 12 Senate aspirants who have shown track record as public servants and pro-labor advocacies.

“The Labor Center is very confident that with the magnitude of support from its membership from various industries and overseas workers, labor will eventually have a strong voice in Congress,” Herrera said.
