MANILA, Philippines - Ten days before the midterm elections, a new civic organization with members all over the country has joined the campaign against political dynasties.
The Kamalayang Pinoy Movement (KPM) yesterday said they aim to stop the “political insanity†in the country by discouraging Filipinos from voting the same old candidates who have not contributed to the country’s development and failed to uplift the lives of Filipinos.
They want to “promote a free and genuine Filipino consciousness of nationhood, nationalism, and nation building†instead.
“There are some families who have several members participating in the election. This should not be the case. We should give chance to others, especially those who are capable,†said Precious Santiago, KPM national spokesperson.
Santiago also said the KPM will not endorse any candidates, but the group might approve the candidacies of some politicians depending on their performance.
“This would depend on what they could do (for the country) and if they have the genuine interest to serve the people,†Santiago added.
