MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Panfilo Lacson’s net worth increased by about P6 million in 2012, owing to the payment of movie rights for his life on the run.
Lacson declared a net worth of P28,856,647.36 in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) compared to his P22.6 million net worth in 2011.
Lacson said he paid an additional P2.6 million in taxes last year.
The movie is about Lacson’s life while eluding arrest in 2010 for the murder case filed against him for the kidnap-slay of publicist Salvador Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in 2000.
Lacson went into hiding after a Manila court ordered his arrest. He resurfaced after the Court of Appeals nullified the arrest warrant on Feb. 3, 2011. The case was eventually dismissed.
