Over 300 families affected by flooding in Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Some 330 families have been affected by the flooding in South Cotabato, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRMC) said today.

The flooding occurred Sunday night in 11 sub-villages in Esperanza and Lopez Jaena villages in Norala town as continuous heavy rain caused the government's irrigation canal to overflow, the agency said.

Local authorities have been monitoring the situation as the affected families were not asked to evacuate yet,it added.
