5 bidders short-listed in P350-M contract for LRT expansion
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has short-listed five groups to participate in the bidding of a P350-million contract for consultancy services for civil works of the P9.7-billion Light Rail Transit (LRT) line 2 east extension project in Masinag, Pasig City.
Once completed, the project will make travel from Rizal province to Manila easier and faster.
Those pre-qualified by the DOTC are the consortium of Foresight Development and Surveying Co., Soosung Engineering Co. Ltd., and Korea Rail Network Authority Consortium, J.F. Cancio & Associates in association with Development Engineering & Management Corp., Engineering & Development Corp. of the Philippines, Filipinas Dravo Corp., TCGI Engineers, Urban Integrated Consultants Inc., and Oriental Consultants Co. Ltd.
Other groups include the consortium of Schema Konsult Inc., Pertconsult International, KE Asia Inc., DCCD Engineering Corp., Key Engineers Co., and Proconsult Inc.; the tandem of Systra Philippines and Philipps Technical Consultants Corp. as well as the joint venture between Science and Vision for Technology Inc. and Yooshin Engineering Corp.
The names of the groups were contained in the Notice of Eligibility and Shortlisting issued by the DOTC.
“We wish to remind bidders to be mindful of meeting all requirements in the law and in our bid parameters. The DOTC works hard to offer the best opportunities to the private sector, and it expects bidders to likewise give their best proposals to government,†the DOTC said.
The agency said it would continue to follow what procurement laws and rules require for bids as its responsibility to the public.
The project was originally offered earlier this year, but the DOTC declared a failed bidding last February when only one of the interested parties was able to meet the eligibility requirements of Republic Act No. 9184 or the Procurement Law.
The project was approved by the National Economic and Development Authority in July last year.
The LRT-2 east extension plan entails the extension of the existing 13.8-kilometer LRT-2 from Recto to Santolan. The proponent would put up a 4.14-kilometer extension eastward from the existing Santolan Station at Marcos Highway, terminating at the intersection of Marcos Highway and Sumulong Highway.
Two additional stations will be constructed, including the Emerald Station in front of Robinsons Place Metro East in Cainta and the Masinag Station at the Masinag Junction in Antipolo City.
