MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Education (DepEd) will activate its “Oplan Balik Eskwela†(OBE) Information and Action Center (IAC) from May 27 to 31 to ensure a smooth and organized school opening on June 3.
The OBE-IAC will provide students and their parents all the hotlines where they can make inquiries and report complaints and concerns via text message.
The OBE-IAC, to be set up at the DepEd head office in Pasig City, will also serve as information and complaints processing and routing mechanism during the opening of classes.
DepEd has coordinated with other government agencies in launching Oplan Balik Eskwela, including the Departments of Trade and Industry, National Defense, the Interior and Local Government, Public Works and Highways, Health, the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration and the Metro Manila Development Authority.
Lack of teachers and shortage of classrooms, books, chairs and lack of water and sanitation facilities are perennial problems in public schools during school opening.
