(UPDATE) 13 prisoners bolt jail in Negros

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Thirteen prisoners escaped from a city jail in Negros Occidental late yesterday afternoon, police said today.

Local media reports reveal that most of the prisoners who escaped are facing murder charges.

Western Visayas director Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz said one of the prisoners disarmed the guards then shot the lock off the prison facility's main entrance.

Police have launched a manhunt for the escapees.
