More OFWs arriving from Syria – DFA
MANILA, Philippines - Another batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) was expected to arrive from war-torn Syria yesterday afternoon, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said in a statement that 28 OFWs were scheduled to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on board two separate flights, “bringing the total number of repatriates to 3,792.â€
Two OFWs were scheduled to arrive at NAIA Terminal 1 at 4:35 p.m. on Qatar Airways flight QR 646, while 26 repatriates were expected to arrive at 11 p.m. aboard Qatar Airways flight QR 644.
The DFA has repeatedly appealed to OFWs in Syria to avail of the government’s repatriation program to escape from the violence there. The department also asked the relatives to provide the OFWs’ contact details in Syria to facilitate their repatriation.
