MANILA, Philippines - Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, speaking at graduation rites at the Ateneo de Manila University yesterday, expressed hope that Filipino Catholics would experience a journey with Jesus Christ and those who are suffering this Holy Week.
“As you try to find God, God is also searching for you,†Tagle said.
“It is really faith that will enable us to journey with Jesus... Hopefully we can journey with one another, especially those who are suffering and bring them love, too,†Tagle added.
Tagle also hopes that Filipino Catholics will learn more about their faith by knowing more about Pope Francis, the papacy, the Petrine Ministry, and why these are important to the Church.
The youthful cardinal also told Ateneo graduates that he hopes that all graduates will discover their purpose in life, and if their intention after graduation is to become rich and famous, then their parents have just wasted money for their schooling.
Tagle will lead the celebration of Palm Sunday tomorrow at the San Fernando de Dilao Parish Church in Paco, Manila.
Palm Sunday marks the start of the Holy Week. It commemorates the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, where a big crowd waved palm branches to welcome Him.
