Tingting denies sympathizing with NPA, MILF

MANILA, Philippines - The aunt of President Aquino, former Tarlac governor Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco, clarified yesterday that she is not a sympathizer of the New People’s Army (NPA) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“This information is totally absurd. Why would I say such a thing? You have totally quoted me out of context. This is totally untrue,” Cojuangco said.

Cojuangco said she would not invite the NPA and MILF to their house or give them palay because it would be viewed as “encouraging insurgency.”

“I’m encouraging them to return to the fold of the law,” she said.
