Comelec releases video on campaign violations
MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has come up with a video campaign against violations of campaign rules for the May 13 polls.
Dubbed “Boy Bawal,†the two-minute video will show the “don’ts†of the campaign like oversized posters, plastering campaign materials outside common poster areas like trees, posts, plant boxes, public structures, and government and public utility vehicles.
The Comelec’s Education and Information Department (EID), headed by director James Jimenez, produced the video.
At the end of it, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. is shown telling the public: “Umpisa na ang kampanya, kapag may nakita kayong bawal, pakisumbong niyo sa amin dito sa Comelec (The campaign season begins, if you see violations, report to us here in the Comelec).â€
The poll body has requested all networks to use the “Boy Bawal†advertisement as part its “space and time†for public information dissemination on election related-concerns.
Jimenez said the ad could also be viewed on Comelec’s YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/comelectv and on Comelec-EID blog http://mycomelec.tv/main/.
Earlier, the Comelec had called on the public to report violations of campaign rules by tweeting the poll body @comelec and using the hashtag #sumbongko.
