MANILA, Philippines - Police Superintendent Hansel Marantan, one of the officials involved in the Atimonan shooting presently under restrictive confinement, is reportedly not included in the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) watchlist.
BI spokesperson Antonette Bucasas-Mangrobang yesterday said that Marantan has no derogatory record as far as their files are concerned nor has he been issued a hold departure order (HDO).
Marantan allegedly led his men in the shooting incident in Atimonan, Quezon province that left 13 people dead last Jan. 6.
President Aquino is reportedly in no hurry to review the five-inch thick, 64-page report of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Marantan and 21 others are now facing dismissal from the service for committing “very serious violations†of the rules of police operational procedures.
Aside from Marantan, also facing administrative charges are Chief Inspector Grant Gollod, Superintendent Ramon Balauag, Senior Inspector John Paulo Carracedo, Inspectors Timoteo Orig, Ferdinand Aguilar and Evaristo San Juan.
Others who were charged are SPO3 Joselito de Guzman, Senior Police Officers 1 Claro Cataquiz Jr. and Arturo Sarmiento, Police Officers 3 Benedict Dimayuga and Eduardo Oronan, Police Officers 2 Ronnie Serdena, Esperidion Corpuz, Nelson Indal and Al Bhazar Jailani, and Police Officers 1 Wryan Sardea, Rodel Talento, Allen Ayobo and Esperidion de Leon.
