PNP chief supports Metrobank Foundation
MANILA, Philippines - To further strengthen the advocacy of recognizing exemplified members of the Philippine National Police, new PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima expressed support to the annual Metrobank Foundation Search for the Country’s Outstanding Police Officers in Service (COPS).
The 18th PNP chief recently met with the organizers of the search – PNP DPCR director P/Director Lina Sarmiento, PSBank president Pascual M. Garcia III, Metrobank Foundation president Aniceto Sobrepeña, Metrobank president Fabian Dee, Rotary Club of New Manila East president Herminio Carreon and PNP PIO chief P/C Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr. – to discuss updates on the ongoing 2013 Best COPS search.
“We look at the police force as a crucial pillar that ensures our nation’s stability through peace and order, that’s why the Metrobank, Metrobank Foundation (MBFI), together with Rotary Club of New Manila East and PSBank have taken it upon ourselves to support the PNP,†Dee said.
Sobrepeña said, “The Search for COPS salutes champions of community mobilization, a small gesture to express our gratitude to the police force for actively serving as agents for nation building.â€
In response, Purisima affirmed that the goals and accomplishments that the PNP gained through the years were made possible with the active participation of different stakeholders.
“Through the COPS, the morale of the PNP personnel was considerately uplifted and those who had exemplified themselves in the field of law enforcement and public service were duly recognized,†he said.
COPS is a nationwide search that honors the career achievements of gallant police officers of the nation with minimum of seven years in service and actively mobilized, involved and organized the community to become fellow vanguards of peace and order.
The COPS awardees will receive a total of P300,000 cash prize each, Metrobank Foundation Medallion, PNP Medalya ng Katangi-tanging Gawa and COPS trophy.
Since the search highlights the cooperative efforts of the police and the community in preventing and solving crime, the public is encouraged to nominate police officers who are champions of community mobilization in their areas.
Deadline for the 2013 COPS search is on Feb. 28, 2013.
For inquiries, interested nominees and nominators may call 898-87-57 or visit www.cops.ph; www.mbfoundation.org.ph and www.pnp.gov.ph.
