Yes, there are religious crimes
MANILA, Philippines - Under the Revised Penal Code (RPC), there are two crimes against religious worship.
Section 4, Title 2 specifies that a person can be held liable for “interrupting religious worship†(Article 132) and “offending religious feelings†(Article 133).
Interrupting religious worship applies to a public officer or employee who prevents or disturbs “ceremonies or manifestations of any religion.â€
The penalty for this offense is prision correccional in its minimum period, which is six months and one day to two years and four months.
However, if the crime is committed with violence or threats, the penalty is prision correccional in its medium (two years, four months and one day to four years) and maximum (four years, two months and one day to six years) periods.
Anyone who, in a place devoted to religious worship or during the celebration of a religious ceremony, performs acts “notoriously offensive to the feelings of the faithful†can be held liable for offending religious feelings.
The penalty for this crime is arresto mayor in its maximum period to prision correccional in its minimum period, which is four months and one day to two years and four months.
