MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Thursday that its team will be able to bring Manuel Amalilio, founder of the Aman Futures Group Philippines, Inc., back to the Philippines on Friday.
NBI chief Nonnatus Caesar Rojas said that NBI agents who flew to Malaysia after Amalilio's arrest reported that Malaysian authorities will turn over the pyramiding boss to them by Thursday afternoon.
Rojas said that Amalilio will be placed under the custody of the NBI at its headquarters in Manila.
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima announced the arrest of Amalilio on Wednesday. She said that Amalilio was arrested by Malaysian authorities for possession of a fake passport.
Amalilio was arrested in Kota Kinabalu.
The Aman Futures founder is allegedly behind the P12-billion pyramiding scam that victimized at least 15,000 people in Visayas and Mindanao.
