6 victims in PGH now out of danger
MANILA, Philippines - Sixteen-year-old Antonio Orio was declared out of danger from the bullet wound that he sustained after a gunman opened fire in a neighborhood in Kawit, Cavite the other day.
His older brother Al, however, was not as lucky.
“He (Antonio) is in the recovery room and in good condition. The doctors said he is safe now,†said Maly Gatdula, mother-in-law of the elder Orio, who died while being rushed to the hospital after former
barangay councilman Ronald Bae shot him and several others in a rampage in Kawit town Friday morning.
The younger Orio, along with five others, was brought to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Friday night. Doctors said all of them are now out of danger.
The five others are Maricel Pajal, 31; Ricky Dumitig, 17; Kevin Palada, 6; Ken Cedric Caymol, 4; and Richelle Caymol.
On vacation from school, he accompanied his elder brother in selling taho, helping him carry the heavy aluminum containers. The two, however, ran into Bae who was shooting everyone in sight.
Gatdula told The STAR that the elder Orio’s remains were brought to his parents’ house in Bagbag 2, Rosario, Cavite yesterday morning, but there was no schedule yet for the burial.
The elder Orio left behind his common-law wife Mary Joyce Gatdula and their two-month-old daughter Merck Cyline.
With his death, Gatdula said life is now uncertain for her daughter and granddaughter.
Dr. Felix Lukban, PGH communication head, said the younger Orio and the other victims are now “out of danger.â€
