MANILA, Philippines - Residents of Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental were advised yesterday to remain vigilant against flashfloods and landslides as heavy rains are expected in the next three days.
Moderate to heavy rains are expected due to a low-pressure area, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA said cloudy sjies with occasional light to moderate rains (one to five millimeters per hour) were expected beginning last night and until today.
“On Dec. 25 and 26, Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental will be cloudy with occasional to frequent moderate to heavy rains (five to 10 mm/hr) due to the passage of the low-pressure area,” PAGASA said.
Moderate to strong northeasterly winds will prevail and moderate to rough seas will affect Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley, PAGASA added.
PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.
“No tropical cyclone development is expected throughout the outlook period,” PAGASA said.
Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon, Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao will have rough to very rough seas with wave heights expected to reach as high as 3.4 to five meters, PAGASA said.
