4 contracts for PCOS machines delivery bidded out
MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is now bidding out four contracts for the delivery of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines and other paraphernalia to their destinations across the country.
The four contracts amount to around P2.2 billion.
In an Invitation to Bid, the Comelec said a pre-bid conference would be held on Dec. 7 at the Project Management Office at the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila.
The Comelec said among the requirements is that bidders should have completed “within seven years from date of submission and receipt of bids a contract similar to the project.”
Bidding is restricted to “Filipino citizens/sole proprietorship, partnerships, or organizations with at least 60 percent interest or outstanding capital stock belonging to citizens of the Philippines, and to citizens or organizations of a country the law or regulations of which grant similar rights or privileges to Filipino citizens.”
The Comelec had purchased more than 81,000 PCOS machines for use in the 2013 midterm polls.
