Good weather seen until weekend
MANILA, Philippines - Good weather will prevail in many parts of the country, including Metro Manila, until the weekend, the weather bureau said yesterday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is not expecting a tropical storm formation until Sunday.
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) has weakened, but this weather system will continue to bring occasional light to moderate rains or thunderstorms in Mindanao, PAGASA added.
PAGASA said the ITCZ was affecting Mindanao while the northeast monsoon was prevailing over Northern Luzon.
“Palawan and Mindanao will be cloudy with occasional light to moderate rainshowers or thunderstorms,” PAGASA said.
PAGASA said Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will experience light rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with isolated brief rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to east will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and from the northeast and east over Eastern Mindanao.
Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, PAGASA added.
