‘Zainal not owner of SPAC’

Sandy Araneta - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Security Pacific Assurance Corp. (SPAC) has denied that the firm was connected with a man who was allegedly murdered by victims of the investment scam of Aman Futures Phils., Inc.

“In your Nov. 16, 2012 issue, it was reported that Anwar Alvin Zainal who was kidnapped and subsequently found dead was the owner of Security Pacific Insurance,” lawyer Roderick Manzano, counsel of SPAC, wrote The STAR.

The article, titled “Links to pyramid scam eyed in murder, arson,” had published that Zainal was reported to be one of the incorporators of Aman Futures and his death was connected to a multibillion-peso pyramiding scam in Mindanao.

It was also reported that he was part owner of Security Pacific.

“We would like to inform your office, the insurance industry and the reading public that Anwar Alvin Zainal is neither the owner nor part owner of our client Security Pacific Assurance Corp.,” stated the letter sent to The STAR by Manzano of Lapena Villanueva Manzano & Associates.

The law firm said the wrong report has caused their client to be flooded with calls and inquiries, not to mention its detrimental effect to the valued clients and customers of SPAC.
