Brady needs privacy, rest - DFA
MANILA, Philippines - An official of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday ailing Philippine Ambassador to China Sonia Brady needs privacy, rest and prayers for her full recovery.
“Ambassador Sonia Brady arrived in Manila from Beijing (Friday) night. She needs privacy and a lot of rest. Let’s pray for her speedy and full recovery,” DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said on his Twitter account.
“Ambassador Brady arrived at 6 p.m. and is now resting,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said in a text message.
Brady was in a wheel chair and brought down from Gate 49 to the tarmac where she boarded an ambulance from St. Luke’s Medical Center.
The DFA said Thursday that the 71-year-old ambassador is recuperating but has some difficulties with her speech after she suffered a stroke.
Del Rosario flew last Aug. 25 to Beijing to visit Brady.
A retired career diplomat, Brady was appointed ambassador to China in May this year at the height of territorial disputes between Manila and Beijing.
