STAR columnist wins Gintong Aklat

MANILA, Philippines -  The Gintong Aklat Award 2012 for science was recently bagged by Ateneo de Manila University Press for publishing “Twenty One Grams of Spirit and Seven Ounces of Desire: Measure and Meaning” by Philippine STAR science columnist Maria Isabel Garcia.  

Another book, “Stellar Origins Human Ways Readings in Science and Technology” edited by Dr. Assunta Cuyegkeng, was a finalist.

Other books published by the Ateneo Press that won the Gintong Aklat Awards were “If I Write You This Poem, Will You Make It Fly” by Simeon Dumdum Jr. for Literature, and “To Give and Not to Count the Cost Ateneans Inspiring Ateneans (1859-2009)” edited by Rudy Ang and Nancy Pe-Rodrigo published for the Ateneo de Manila University’s sesquicentennial, for the Inspirational category. 

The Gintong Aklat Award is given every two years to publishers for “overall excellence in content, design and printing.”

It administered by the Book Development Association of the Philippines, composed of practitioners and professionals in publishing established in 1981.
