SC voting on release of CJ bets' psychological tests postponed

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Supreme Court (SC)’s voting on whether or not to release the psychiatric and psychological tests of candidates for chief justice was postponed to next week, according to sources at the SC.

The same source said that the justices did not reach a consensus and would instead vote on the request of Associate Justice Arturo Brion for the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) to release the results of the psychiatric tests given to candidates for chief justice.

According to a report, Brion’s letter-complaint dated Aug. 27 will be included in the agenda of the session of the full court, which would be presided over by Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno.

Brion, who was one of the candidates interviewed for the post, asked the high court to compel the JBC to release the results of his psychiatric and psychological tests.

However, the JBC stressed that nobody can see the results of the psychiatric tests of Sereno, Brion or any of the applicants for the position of chief justice because of the strict confidentiality rule. – Sandy Araneta
