BI urges Congress to pass new immigration law

MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) yesterday reiterated its appeal to Congress to expedite the passage of a new immigration law that will replace the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.

Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said many provisions of the present immigration act “are no longer responsive to modern-day immigration concerns.”
